Buying books online is pretty easy.
There are a few things to remember:
- Find/find the book you want (title, author or ISBN)
- If the price seems ok with shipping costs, purchase it (you may need an account)
- Wait for the book to arrive in the mail
Finding the book you want
Often searching by Title or Author is a great way to find the book you are after.
However, if you know the ISBN (International Standard Book Number), this will help you find the exact book you want.
These usually look like 0307353133 or 0-307-353-133
Often textbooks for university or school courses will list the ISBN.
Prices of books
NeoScholar book search automatically calculates the shipping cost to your country through using advanced location technology.
This takes the hassle out of finding shipping costs and adding them to book prices.
Creating an Account
When you go to check out and buy a book, you will need to create an account. Don’t worry! This process is usually quick and will save you money if the book price is right.
Most online books stores require you to have an account before you purchase. This way, they can store you shipping address and contact details for future purchases.
The book stores we search here such as Amazon.com, Alibris and Abebooks all require you to create an account. It’s no big deal.
Just do it and you can enjoy.

Ever wanted to find all the books in a page?
Perhaps there are a list of ISBNs with no links? This is often the case with some academic works.
So I’ve built the “Nescholar - Books in Page” tool
This link below can be installed or added to your favourites.
For Firefox - Drag the link to your toolbar
For IE - Right Click the link - add to favourites
How do you use it?
When your on a page you want to scan just click the link from your favourites or tool bar. It’s that simple. Hopefully we’ll know whats on that page.

Modern tools, such as YouTube, allow many to express their ideas and observations.
Here we have a brilliant video demonstrating the changes and styles in female portraits over the last 500 years.

This is part dream, a tool and a work in progress.
I like buying and reading books. NeoScholar is a tool I built to price compare between Alibris, Abebooks and Amazon.
Originally, this was a side project on a somewhat Cyberpunk, but more technology impact on society, blog Brooders.net
So, I have many plans for NeoScholar .. I want to build tools that a NeoScholar of todays world would need that aren’t there yet.
But for the moment, if you need to look for books then NeoScholar can help.
